Looking for a free experience your kids will remember? Kids ages 8-17 can take a FREE introductory airplane flight through EAA’s Young Eagles program! Volunteer pilots give kids a chance to learn about aviation and see their local area from the sky.
These are short flights in general aviation airplanes, rather than free airline tickets. Flights are offered through local chapters and volunteer pilots, so dates and availability vary by location.
How to Sign Up
Visit the EAA event finder to look for a Young Eagles event near you. Check the listing for the airport, date, time, and registration instructions. A parent or legal guardian must complete the required registration and permission paperwork. Confirm arrival instructions with the organizer before heading out.
What to Expect
Before takeoff, the pilot explains the airplane and what will happen during the flight. Most flights last 15-20 minutes, although the exact length varies. After landing, kids can ask questions and receive an official Young Eagles logbook or certificate.
Free Extras After the Flight!
Kids who complete a Young Eagles flight can activate a FREE EAA student membership and receive FREE access to Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course! Membership can be selected during online registration or activated afterward using the code on the Young Eagles logbook. Check EAA’s Flight Plan for details.
Read the official parent FAQ for more information, and share this with a parent who has a kid ages 8-17!
