There are six kids’ events to check out in October, from Halloween crafts to a free trick-or-treat tote. Check your local store before heading out: some events require registration, and dates or supplies vary by location.
Saturday, October 3: The Home Depot Witch Candy Box
9 a.m., noon, local time. Kids can build a witch-themed candy box at this free in-store workshop. Register through The Home Depot’s Kids Workshop page and select your store. Kits are available while supplies last.
Saturday, October 3: Lowe’s Trick-or-Treat Tote
Starts at 10 a.m., local time. The first 150 MyLowe’s Rewards members at participating stores can claim a free trick-or-treat tote, while supplies last. Join MyLowe’s Rewards and check Kids Club details, then confirm the giveaway with your store. This is an in-store giveaway; there’s no workshop signup for the tote.
Saturday, October 3: IKEA Halloween Treat Decorating
Some IKEA locations are hosting a kids’ activity to decorate Halloween cookies and cinnamon buns. This is a local-store event, so times, eligibility and registration vary. Select your IKEA store and check its events before making plans.
October 9-11: Barnes & Noble LEGO Halloween Build
Participating Barnes & Noble stores are hosting a Halloween-themed LEGO mini build on different dates and at different times during October 9-11. Find your store’s event calendar, then call to ask about signup and available spots. Your store may offer the build on only one of those days.
Saturday, October 10: JCPenney Kids Zone Dalmatian Fireman Craft
11 a.m., noon, local time. Kids can make a Dalmatian firefighter craft at participating JCPenney Kids Zone stores. Find your JCPenney store and confirm it hosts Kids Zone. This is generally a walk-in activity, with supplies available while they last.
Saturday, October 17: Lowe’s Firefighting Plane Workshop
10 a.m., 1 p.m., local time, during your reserved session. Kids can build and decorate a firefighting plane. Register for the free workshop here: sign in or create a Lowe’s account, choose your store and reserve a spot for each child. Advance registration is required, and spots may fill up. Lowe’s generally recommends its workshops for ages 4-11 with adult supervision.
